Saving...
[Dec 9? 1944] Dear Dave: Remember me-- I'm one of the home town boys that joined up in the Navy a number of years ago. I have been meaning to write to Mr. Shannon for some time but kept putting it off. About three weeks ago I had the pleasure to meet a person from Washington, Iowa. I think that you know him too-- His name is Lester Glick-- He also joined the Navy about 7 years ago and at present time is stationed in Northern Ireland. Well, one day I was in Scotland-- (that was when he was in Scotland.) I had the chance to get to see him. I arrived at his place in Helenslough about 5:15 p.m. His wife who is an Irish girl met me at the door-- We had a nice chat until Lester arrived from his work. Then had a nice dinner and spent about three hours chatting about this & that. I haven't seen Lester since about 1941 when we were both at San Diego, Calif. I had heard through the Journal that he was in England. I called into the office & found out where he was and rang him on the telephone. Also wrote him a letter & told him to call me when he came to the big City. He never did-- But, he was quite surprised when I phoned & told him that I would drop in to see him. By the way-- His wife-- I forgot her name was quite pleasant-- And she can cook too--
