19 Dec 44 France. Dear Dave, I rec'd the 33rd, 35th & 36th drip of scuttlebutt all in the same day. I guess the 34th must be on a slow boat, coming by the way of Australia. I noticed in the printing of my letter you listed me as a T/Sgt. I'm just a Staff, Dave. So better correct that before someone gets the idea that I got promoted. I had my third shower since landing in France yesterday. Only this time I was lucky & didn't have to hit a fox hole upon my return to the area. All my other baths have been out of the good old steel chapeau. We call them whore baths. If you print this letter you better soften
