23 Dec. 1944 Dear Dave, Have just arrived in Hondo, Texas where I will recieve twenty weeks of training in Advanced Navigation. Chances are the first time they let me set the course I'll be home, so you can expect me any time. I won't say that I'm happy to be back in Texas after being stationed at some of the best bases in Calif. and Ariz., but I am happy to get a chance at finishing cadets, which has looked doubtful many a time since I started last Dec. Have toured the field and looked the AT-7's over that we are to fly in. We also looked for some means of entertainment. Seems they haven't that subject in mind for us on this field. Merle [Tunnyseed?] is due to graduate tomorrow (Dec. 24) and will probably be home in a few days after this letter reaches you. What I wouldn't give for a few
