Dec. 28, 1944 Hello Dave, I just thought I had better write and tell you I sure do like to get the little home town paper. You call it Scuttlebutt, I sure do get a lot of news out of it that I don't get from home. I see "now and than" where some of my Buddies get Bumped off now & than, but if you have noticed, in, that last few weeks since the back up they had over there and on some of the the Islands, most of the home town bunch have been wounded or Killed. Maybe the folks back home & other places will take notice that there is a war going on & not just a game like foot ball. I am sure you know what I mean. Well I hope you and the gange at the Journal office had a swell Xmas. I had a pretty good time. I don't know if you knew Stanley Brock or not, but he is out here & is working at the Todd Ship Yards.
