May 5, 1945 England Dear Dave, It's been quit a long time since I last wrote the good old Scuttlebutt, so here goes a few lines. Well, as you can no doubt read in the papers our work is about over here so am taking it easy while I can. I got the 57th drip yesterday was sure glad to get it as I sure look forward to them, the mail has been coming through in great shape. I got my promotion to Capt. the other day, came as some what of a surprise to me. I have completed one tour of missions but decided to see it through over here till the end of the war and have started a second tour but looks like I am not going to complete it. I get to see
