Saving...
[Jan. 9, 1944] Sunday afternoon Dear Mother, I see several days have slipped by since I've written, and I suppose you are wondering if I'm still here. The fact is, I haven't heard anything more since I wrote you of my Pentagon trip. Number 22 got here Thursday, and Numbers 23 & 24 came yesterday. I'll be on the watch for the package. I should think it would get here all right, and I'm sure we'll know what to do with it. I enjoyed Uncle Jap's letter and am very glad to have Grandma's picture. I'll write him again in a few days. I wrote just before Christmas. I had Mrs. Willis down on my list and will send her a card or a note. Do you think I'd better wait till I get somewhere overseas, or not? I have my "letters-to-answer" divided into two sections in my folio; those which are "active" and those who would rather hear from some interesting place probably. It sounds odd to have it Pvt. Robert Estey and Lt. Elbert, doesn't it? I bet Robert wishes he had taken more military. How nice to hear about Dorothy's baby! I'm going to write her today. I'll bet the whole family is aglow. Was the puzzle Fritz made you a jigsaw one? You hadn't mentioned it before. You cut that out about the toothpaste! I haven't used anything but Dr. Lyons powder
