4 note Mother almost froze during the winter of 1942-43 Ration Board told her she should have had extra oil. such sociable people, but it seems hard for her, especially, to get started. How is your fuel oil situation in comparison to last year at this time? From all reports, the weather hasn't been as severe so far. The whole thing worries me, especially since I feel so helpless about it. I am getting a bit tired of waiting around. I'm not bored, but am getting lazy and find it hard not to creep up in weight. I think I've gained 5 or 6 pounds since I came back. I wish they had found us something to do, but console myself that there will be enough later to make up for it. We sleep till 10 or 10:30, I usually get lunch then, sometimes go down & do a little shopping of odds & ends, perhaps go to a movie, we sometimes eat together at a nice place and then in the evening we play cards, or visit, or fool around packing & discussing our equipment. Wednesday night we played bridge for a while and then yap. We had quite a hilarious time, because Fran's boy friend called and Juliette visited with him for about ten minutes before she told him she wasn't Fran.
