3 more of the same caliber. They were the best orchestra I've heard in ages and they couldn't be hired by any one group in peace time. There was a man who has his own orchestra (Jack Schaeffer) and he did some killing songs very much on the rough side. I wanted to howl, as he was really funny. After work I went with one of the girls, an Army nurse & a dietician to a Hot Shoppe (chain eating place) for a sandwich & ice cream & came on home. Friday afternoon 12:30-5:30 Played bridge with Lieutenant Harris, another Red Cross girl and a total of four other men, all very good players. Two of them, the lieutenant & a man called "Pop", spoke French so we did that too. Friday night -- 6:30-9:00 Saw a Legion show a group brought out, ate cookies & ice cream. Visited & fooled around. I also, to my great surprise, met Tom Farmer, who used to play football for Iowa. I told him that you were a great fan of his. He is lame and although he didn't have an amputation, he must have had a major leg injury. He wanted to know if I were going to the Iowa dance tomorrow night at the Shoreham hotel and I think maybe I'll go if I can leave
