2 know why, but if the men play a game at all they seem to be very good at it. Louise Broschy another girl who went out when I did to wait clearance, has played in tournaments. We play with a man named Oakes, who was a building contractor and one named Waters who was a lawyer. And I, who never liked to take my bridge too seriously! Saturday night I started to be taught pinochle by three fellows, Sunday I spent at Cassino with two other men and one of the girls. It's a good game. Monday we played double cribbage all afternoon. So it goes. Today was my day off. I had lunch with Fran Ewinger, one of the room mates, shopped all afternoon and had dinner with Katharine Hosch, who is back from the coast with a big diamond and her head in the clouds. She's going to be assigned in this area and probably transferred to the Pacific area later. They decided not to be married till the "Saratoga" comes in again, probably 12-18 months. She will probably go out to Walter Reed with me tomorrow, as she wants to see it. The air mail letter was slower than the package! Bethesda = Beth-éz-da ("e" as in "met") I didn't know Mary had anything but a sisterly interest in Ralph. And how could Ann Casey cut anyone out? I thought she
