Saving...
4 in brown paper, & then I must have forgotten they were there and thrown them into the waste basket. Anyway, when we came to eat them they had vanished. I'll take the income tax stuff to the Bureau of Internal Revenue and dump it in their laps. What are we paying them for if not to work? How nice to get a book from Maureen Croly [English friend living in Scotland. Met in Paris 1936] I'll watch for it. I haven't heard from her or Freddy for a long time. I could use my new hankies -- Min & Issy -- and my good white pumps and a pair of No 3 grey knitting needles, a biggish crochet hook, & that smooth patent tatting shuttle., if you want to send me another package. Don't get excited about Julia's prediction. The first time I was out there she said the war would end in December! Do you want me to tell you about the hospital & my adventures, or is it dull when you don't know the people? Love, Helen P.S. I'm starting a cribbage tournament to see how they take to it. Later a chess one if successful.
