Saving...
2 I got a notice today that the package was at National & I'll pick it up tomorrow. I was relieved. Thanks a lot. Yesterday I took my uniform to the cleaners and Katharine Hosch picked it up for me at 5. It looks grand. She is still waiting for a domestic assignment. I had an interesting experience at the hospital yesterday. I think I mentioned the "Blockbusters" and their leader who is called "The Boss". He is a dark-haired, rather tall fellow of 36. Did I tell you he hated me for four days because I spoiled his card trick? Well, anyway, yesterday he got to bragging about his "publicity." It seems that he was in the gambling racket in Atlantic City. He said that the G-men came for two years and when he got arrested he found lots of familiar faces. He had to raise $10,000 bail in a half hour & made it with five minutes to spare. He was up on counts of running a gambling syndicate, perjury & contempt of court, with a total of 20 years. How he "beat the rap" I don't know, but he said it was expensive. He was quite proud of his headlines, which he said pushed Hitler off the front page. They said "Frank Molinero out on $10,000 Bail!" Join the army and meet the public! He is really very pleasant. I played cassino with him and won the first game.
