Saving...
[Feb 10, 1943] P.P.S. Lucy Powers is clearing tomorrow, too. Also a couple of Juliette's friends. Juliette is going to send you some pictures. She is the tall dark girl & Lucy the older, lighthaired woman. [Feb. 10, 1944] Wednesday night Dear Mother, Just a note. I'm just about packed, so even if they should send me out tomorrow it would be all right. Probably it will be a day or so. I visited with Don by phone a few minutes ago & he said he thought I'd be going to the unit there and that all was unchanged. He was quite puzzled that I hadn't been sent before, but said he had long since given up trying to figure out the Red Cross. I'm scribbling this on my bed before I finish up odds & ends. I just wrote Betty a note. I still have a few I wanted to write but will have to postpone. I can see I'll have to send home some things I wanted to take. Inevitable, I suppose. Love, Helen P.S. Cookies were swell.
