Saving...
Feb 16, 1944 Wednesday Dear Mother, The fudge caught up with me a few minutes after I talked to you. It is very, very good, and I'm glad it won't have to be chopped up for cake. It came in perfect condition and isn't even dry. We all appreciate it, and the little red heart on the package. It was good to talk to you and I was delighted when I had the chance. Writing letters is also an unexpected pleasure. You asked about the girls in my unit. The Red Cross unit is made up of girls from widely separated states. The other recreation worker, Linden Anderson, is from Texas. The Secretary, Genevieve Kuzia, is from Pennsylvania, and the Assistant Field Director, Joyce Gale and the Staff Aide, Helen Ciancimino, are from New York. All we lack is someone from the West Coast to make us all-American. I saw a big bunch of victory books this afternoon and looked inside some that looked familiar to see if by any chance they were any we had given. It's nice to know that they get used. When you get my permanent APO number I think it would be nice for you to use V-mail fairly often, as it will be lots faster. If there is more than one sheet, you can just label them and send them separately. I hope my salary check arrives promptly
