March 1, 1944 Evening Dear Mother, Sure enough, about an hour after I'd mailed a letter to you the mail arrived with two letters, written the 26th and 28th of Feb. Also one from Marie Devlin out in Spokane. There aren't any letters missing in the series now. I think your idea about the bond would be excellent. I can't think of a thing I want now that money could buy, and after the war there will be such a lot of things. The electric blanket, for example. The girls say they are really nice. The picture on the roll was undoubtedly Mary Bess Doty, Mary's friend, as she started off. Juliette and Fran are to go overseas but have joined their units for an indefinite stay first. I suppose it's called overseas in wartime because the sea part looms a lot larger. I should think Betty could know the names, but no particular publicity, please. Yes, Mrs. Dyke is in Iowa City, I think he said. I'll note the crochet cotton in my shopping list & see if I can do anything
