March 3, 1944
Dear Mother,
I had a nice letter from Juliette today enclosing some pictures and knew you'd be anxious to see them. Juliette is the tall, dark girl and Lucy Powers is the short, light one. I am very fond of them both and hope I'll see them again.
Yesterday I heard from Clara and from Roberta. Did I tell you Roberta sent me a nice hankie for my birthday, and I got it just a month too early. She says she wishes I'd keep going. Jimmy is somewhere down south expecting to go soon.
Lucille Johnson, one of my roommates, & I hope to hear La Boheme at the Metropolitan or, as second choice, Tristram & Isolde.
Dear Mrs. Fox -- Helen has told me so much about your garden that I'm anxious to get to where we are going and let her start digging! She quite overwhelms me with plant terms -- does she get them all from you?
