Saving...
She said he was hard for many people to get along with because he had high professional standards and didn't always try to be diplomatic. He joined the army about a year and a half ago. As far as she knew, he is still unmarried. He bought his folks a nice home in Des Moines in a good suburb. His mother died this last fall, and his father lives there. So much for old boy-friends. After dinner, Lucy and I went to the Broadway theater district, looking for a play to go to. We got good seats to the Katharine Cornell - Raymond Massey play, Lovers and Friends. It was excellent, and they were such good actors that it was a joy to see them. The play itself was full of subtle, rather dry humor. We had intended to go to the opera, but they were sold out. I got a card from Fran Ewinger with a San Francisco APO, and a nice letter from Harriet. Your letter number 43 just came. I wonder what could have happened to Freddies letters. I'll write him today. I wrote him last about three weeks ago. I'm also wondering about the Kramers letter. I watched for something from them in Washington. Juliette's unit doesn't like their Assistant Field Director, which is too bad. Love, Helen
