March 12, 1944 Dear Mother, Well, no particular news I can pass on, but guess you'd like to have me write anyway. I'll write again, of course, as soon as I can. We had a good time at our unit party last night. We danced, played ping pong and cards and sang. I met lots more of the officers and there are several who are quite amusing. As usual, our room has been full of people all evening. Right now one of the girls is sitting on my feet and there are two others on the other bed. Taps has just sounded, and very nice it sounded too. I like the bugle calls. Coming home from mess this evening I stubbed my toe and took the knee out of a pair of hose. When I got home I was much clucked over and dabbed with sulfadiozine and bandaged. It was really very funny, as I have skinned my knee a dozen times a year and never had such care.
