March 26, 1944 Dear Mother, Let's have this count as the first of a new series of letters. I'll try to remember to number them better than I've done in the past. I was so thrilled and well-satisfied to go to London a few days after my birthday. I'll have to confess, though, that I was disappointed not to be more excited by the raids that came while I was there. Really, the blackouts at home were more nuisance. Since we were in a Nurses and Wacs club we went to shelter, where we could scarcely hear anything. I guess practice in that sort of thing makes perfect. At any rate I enjoyed every minute of my visit there. I'll try to tell you some of the things I did. My introduction to London was, of course, a raid, so I got acquainted
