to dry. By the tub were two buttons marked Up and Down, by which the occupant could summon the upstairs or downstairs servants. The downstairs foyer was paneled in wood, while most of the other rooms were cream, with lovely moldings and all had at least one fireplace. The floors were hardwood inlay, with small, intricate squares. We never did discover all the rooms in the four or five floors it had. I think our bedroom had been a drawing room. One end of it looked out on the street & the other on the interesting vista of backs of houses and chimney pots. The dogs delighted us. There were so many I'd never seen outside of a Nat'l Geographic dog section. One day I actually saw a grey plush dog with long ears. And it was a [neat?] dog too. Love, Helen
