April 10, 1944 Dear Mother, I got a nice V-mail letter from Mary last night and was glad to hear that the Red Cross had notified you so promptly. I hope I'll hear from you before long. Today I had a note from Helen Crum, who hoped we'd get into her part of the country. We eat at five o'clock and it doesn't get dark till about nine thirty, so that gives a good time for riding or hiking. Last night Mrs. Aronson, Polly Wilcox, (the Physiotherapist, who has a degree from Cedar Falls) & I took a bicycle ride of about six or seven miles [around the Great Orme].
