April 21, 1944 Dear Mother, I got three letters from you yesterday, and all made excellent time. One was number fifty seven and for some reason both the others were sixty two. Where are the missing ones, and why the repeat? It was fascinating to get an answer to a letter written two weeks ago. I hope the wedgewood piece makes good time. I'm sure air mail is the best for this location, so I'll continue with it & hope you will too. Quite a splurge in the Trident. I'm surprised I didn't turn out Cox, or Dox. Yes, I knew it was New Mexico. I wondered why you kept referring to a trip out of the country. You should get more eventually on that April 1st pay check. Probably about $12.80. After this the checks should be an even $50. Yes, I think I'd like to have my money put in G bonds when it comes due. The regular interest would be nice. No, the number on my letters now is not the permanent one, but probably there will be only one more. Any of those APO's will reach me, but the latest
