Did I tell you that our pretty birds are chaffinches? I mended Genevieve's skirt this afternoon. She leaned up against the boiler when she was washing her mess kit and scorched a hole right in the front. Are those topknotted birds flycatchers? They sound like them. Sunday night we went to a lovely program of singing by a men's chorus. They sang some in English and some in their own tongue. There was a wild, haunting quality to the music that was quite delightful. I must take a bath now. We are hostessing at an enlisted men's dance for a while this evening. Love, Helen
