8 July [1945] Dear Dave Don't think too badly of me for not writing sooner, but I find it very difficult to keep up with my correspondence. We are exceptionally busy, in fact, our volume far greater than it was during the final stages of the war and I imagine that we will continue to be busy until the German Ports are in full operation. I see Forrest Mitchel every day or two and we had the pleasure of "Turk" Flynns presence for part of two days. I think "Turk" has gained every pound that I have lost, for he is bigger than ever. My year in Iceland and year in France and they are the only fellows that I have seen from home. It's a terribly lonely old world.
