and what did you have for Christmas dinner, these confounded Frenchmen wont sell us any thing now not even bread. We can buy Karo syrup at the commissory but we have no bread to put it on and no chance to get any or anything else to eat. In America they dont know anything about what a snap it is in U.S. I have a little cold but feel pretty good all the time altho I get most awful cold sometimes. We have been issued rubber boots and wrap putters and hobnails so our feet are fairly warm most of the time. We worked New Years morning and it was most awful cold but we laid off in the afternoon and boiled up for "crumbs" or "lice" whichever you want to call them.
