Cannon Company 399th Inf. Pforzheim 18 August 45 Dear Dave, Well, V-J day has come, but those dirty Japs are still pulling sneak attacks of all kinds, aren't they? I think a few more atomic bombs would hurry-up the signing of all those papers, don't you Dave? At least the German people know when they're licked. The Japs don't care though about living. It seems as though every time I went on pass, Dave, a war comes to an end. I was in Paris when I heard about the soon to be V-J day and when V-E day come, I had just come back from Nancy the day before. I have received the 71st Drip, I believe, isn't it. I'll probably get another today or tomorrow. I'm sweatin' out a watch coming from Iowa City. It should be here now by First Classs mail, shouldn't it? Well, this is all I can think of right now, so I'll close. I'll be lookin' for a drip. As Ever, Roger [Pfc. Roger K. Banks]
