Sunday Afternoon Sept. 30, 1945 Luzon Dear Dave: Well, here I am, a long ways from home again. A long, long ways. Took off from Cany Grube that it made my head swim, and the next thing I knew I was on a ship out in the Pacific. We were going to stop at Leyte, only we didn't, we came on up to Luzon. We are living in a tent camp in a reclaimed rice paddy. We are near the town of [Batangas?], which is 75 miles south of Manila. We are due to go up to Manila soon, to help process some of the other Division's equipment, who are leaving soon. We are to take over control of all the duties on this Island when
