Feb 28th two more cases of small pox brought into our room one of the 183d O & the other an Indian of the 23d Mich, March 1st we move to another house to get ready to join our command March 2nd it is rumored here that the Rebels have evacuated Richmond " 12th took a stroll through the city of Wilmington N.C. the streets are very sandy & laid out very irregular the rebs before they left
