May 1865 during the day while marching we had a hard shower which soaked us to the skin. 20th at 6 1/2 A.M. march the 50 men of the 181st take the left hand road which leads to Troy, Montgomery Co. & we march to Albamarl the County Seat of Stanley Co arrive at 1 P.M. take up our Qrs in the Court House, it is a small town the Country sparsly settled Hilly & poor we met with a warm reception from the poor
