Mr & Mrs King R. Palmer 4816 Haywood Drive Des Moines Iowa Dear Sis, King & Bobby: Received both your good letters this past week and was very glad to hear from you. I'm getting along fine, keeping busy and out of mischief. Havent had a pass as yet but may et one soon. the towns are rather disappointing most of the fellows report. The countryside is quite pretty tho and so much cleaner than the towns. Our special service department puts on movies twice a week, a fellow never knows before you get there, what it will be but good or bad it helps pass the time away. We also had an Arabian tramp? put on a show for us one night, orchestra, singer, dancing girls (about like the county fair runs out the third day of the fair) and a fakir that put on a good act. We get P.X. supplies nearly every week so have about everything we could ask for. Food is still good but an awful sameness of things like powdered eggs (say what they will they just aint good). Wrote to Red a couple of weeks ago, expect he has received it by now, glad he is so optimistic and having a good time. I admire him and think he has a tough job but I know he is a rugged individual and will take care of himself. I do hope he can go back to school this fall, it's a shame to have something like this war break into a fellows plans. Things are shaping up pretty well tho I believe and perhaps his guess is right. Had a nice letter from Irma last week, they are fine and struggling to get in a big vegetable garden and some other plantings. Rammy had just spent four days boarding at school (Cont)
