To Mr. & Mrs. W. J. Graham West Union Iowa From M/Sgt John W Graham June 19 1944 Dear Dad & Mom: Just came from the P.X. getting my rations had to sweat out a long line but it usually pays to go early as sometimes they run out of things. Still haven't been able to get any paper and haven't gotten your package so you'll get V-mails a while longer. We got cakes today I don't care uch about them but they taste kind of good. We now have a laundry set up, we get twenty pieces done for fifty cents a week which is certainly cheap and its well done, it's a G.I. quartermaster laundry and sure beats washing in a helmet or old gas can. Didn't get any mail today nor yesterday but will get it in a bunch I reckon. We're getting along fine and still busy but the time is passing fast when I look back seems like a very short time and I don't try and look ahead every day is about the same. I wrote to grandmother yesterday, had a letter from her the day before, she seemed rather blue I thought. Ralph is going on the show circuit before long I guess and her eyes were bothering her. Hows business this spring Dad, can you get enough stuff to sell and building permits coming thru a little faster? Seems as tho things should be a little more plentiful than last year, most all camps and government projects should be about finished up. Will close for now. Love Johnny
