To Mr. + Mrs. W.J. Graham West Union Iowa From M/Sgt. John W. Graham 37119304 464 Bomb Grp. 776 Bombay A.P.O.S2070 Pm. New York N.Y. June 30, 1944 Dear Dad + Mom: Just a note to let you know I'm still around + kicking. Seems as tho I haven't had a minute the past few days to get off a letter and even this will be short as it's getting late and I'm sleepy. It's been another scorcher of a day, think without a doubt I could have fried an egg on the sidewalk, if I'd had an egg on the sidewalk. Wish I could sell my eggs off the farm over here as they are sixteen cents apiece if they could be bought. Just came from taking a shower, it was certainly refreshing, that cold water is really invigorating altho tonight it was tepid in fact almost warm. I've a stack of unanswered letters in my writing kit perhaps one of these days soon there will be a lull and I can catch up. Doesn't seem possible it is nearly the Fourth, don't expect to do much celebrating however. I'm glad you found some licorice I'm really looking forward to that package as it's something I've been hungry for a long time. My head is beginning to nod and I can't keep the lines straight so I'll quit for tonight and will send you a regular letter soon. Love, Johnny
