Saving...
July 25, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom and Grandmother: I've ha a busy couple of days, moved my living quarters, besides my other work. Don't see how we had so much stuff in our little shanty before, now I'm living in a tent with five other fellows, it is a better shelter in case it rains. Had all my tools and airplane equipment to move too. Saw Charles Kaeppel again the other night he was over with an officer looking for one of their planes which had lit on our field. He didn't stay long but we had a little [visit. Golly you can tell it was I who wrote this, Ive left my finger prints on the paper. Thought I'd washed all the dirt off but the evidence is against me. Have to finish mounting a tire this morning wanted to do it before it got so hot but I have to wait for our supply man to bring it. This morning when I got up about four thirty it was cool but now its hot and getting hotter. Had a wind yesterday that blew several of the shacks over, one boys' was picked up and carried about a hundred yards scattering stuff all over the area. Just finished changing that tire, Cliff Stirk could sympathize with me but we didn't make nearly as much noise as he does, clanking those tire irons on the cement. Couldnt if we wanted to for we don't have the cement. One of the fellows is pre-flighting his plane and almost blowing this paper away it fairly flutters and the dust is more than pouring
