Saving...
July 28, 1944 Italy Dear Dad, Mom + Grandmother: At last I've seen Ralph Pixler, yesterday afternoon I looked around just as he came walking up to my plane. He stayed all night with me and this morning about ten oclock one of our ships was flying to within six miles of his base so he had a ride back. I went with him and rode back in the same ship a little later. We are about forty five miles apart and the transportation between is very poor. I was certainly glad to see him. Now if I can just contact Bob Ill be much pleased. I went to our Red Cross for information as to his whereabouts but they arent much on the ball and couldnt tell me anything. He did however take the address & say he would try. Got a birthday card from the Muncies today and a V mail from you. I got the box of wash cloths yesterday was tickled to get them as my last one is getting frayed and threadbare. Thanks a lot - thought at first it was my licorice but got fooled. Sorry to hear Uncle Ralph is not feeling so well, hope he can keep on with his work for I know he has a good thing. I'm so sleepy I've got to close with this short note, will write again tomorrow- Love Johnny
