desk now. Nailed some legs on my locker and makes it just right on which to write. Before I always put a board across my knees but this is so much more solid. The fellows are having a regular old pitch - draw pitch - game at present. I've been playing all afternoon that is since we came in from drill. We - our squad, bought a little stove up town today for $2.00 Its so much nicer than the ones we are issued. We haven't a fire in it yet for it isn't cold enough. Last night was much warmer than usual. This am. I was put on a special detail to construct a place to set machine guns. So we got busy and got it done by noon, or rather, by eleven. Its sure a peach of a place. Can put two guns in it. It consists of a dugout with two openings on each front corner and a rear opening which the operators crawl thru. This rear hole opens into a short trench which leads to the main trench. The other companies are also digging and expect we will have a sham
