fire. That gives you an idea of how a machine gun battery works when their infantry is retreating. On an attack the machine guns take up positions on the flank of the enemy. Here's an illustration of what I mean. Of course there would be some guns on the right flank too. Don't know whether you can get much sense out of what I've told you but thought you might be interested in it. Last Saturday afternoon Jesse Sill & I with several other Washington Co. fellows went over to YMCA No. 4 and there saw some movies. Several young ladies from Wash Co. sang. I didn't know any of them. Enjoyed singing and the movies, though. It was expressly for the fellows from our home county.
