clothes getting ready for the hike. My pack is all rolled and ready to buckle on except putting my mess kit in. And its some pack too. We carry two days rations consisting of hardtack bacon, coffee, salt and sugar with us on the hike. Hope we get to cook a little on our own hook for I like to. That old bacon sure tastes good after a hike. All this week we have been having a series of practice hikes - short ones of course. The pack complete, weighs at least fifty pounds. How glad I am that Im not in the infantry for they have to carry a rifle, bayonet and one hundred rounds of ammunition besides the pack. Wow! Mamma will you write to Lee and tell him Im going to be gone for eight days. I haven't another stamp or
