Saving...
is lots easier than manouvers of that kind. The place where the Guards sleep is in a big, magnificent chateau. A chateau is a big dwelling house which the rich land owners used to occupy. This one is where our Brigade Headquarters is stationed. Its nearly time for me to post my relief 2-4, so I must close. Love to all and keep well for it won't be many months befrore I'm home. Your loving son, Tom Corporal Thomas W. Messenger B Co 111 Machine Gun Battalion. American Expeditionary Forces APO765. (Upper margin - Your letter was written the day after we landed in France. Did you imagine your son was riding in a box car when you were [writing it?]?)
