came by. We were lined up along the road and he road by in a big car with his staff. First I ever saw him. And then didn't get a good look at him. We were supposed to keep head and eyes straight to the front but I glanced out of the corner of my eye as he was coming down the road and caught a glimpse of him. We got back here at about half past eight. Ate supper and went right to bed. For dinner we had hot coffee, beans, sausage and a jam sandwish. Pretty good wasn't it considering the circumstances. That hot coffee sure went good. It was pretty windy and rained a little bit in the afternnon but not much. Today sure has been rainy. That is, this afternoon. Football is starting up again. Wish it would get warmer so we could start a baseball team. Our regular quarterback went away a couple of weeks ago. So they put me to playing that position. Never played there before in my life but I'll never learn any younger. The fellow we had sure knew the game and how to play his position. I'd like to get a pass to Paris to see the football game between the First and Third Army teams for the A.E.F. championship. That will be quite an honor. But our main thoughts are centered on coming home. Our sailing date
