a bank account. Yes, they leave the numbers on your letters, and none have been opened at all. Are mine numbered? I hope so, as it is hard to get them straight otherwise. I'm glad Mary got to New Mexico at last. How nice Betty McKay is married. I want to write Blanche when I can. I'm neglecting my other correspondents because I haven't a spare moment, but don't want to neglect you. So pass stuff on if you can. If you see any salted peanuts I'd like them a lot. Also any of that not-too-inspiring candy at [Kresges?] or Woolworth. As Lin says "I eat stuff I wouldn't look at at home." I have my baggage all with me. The V-mail letter beat the air-mail by one day this time. I'll write Nora Lewison, as I know how to reach her. The cherry-eating birds were catbirds. The birds here are just gorgeous singers--so clear and sweet. We get only canned or dried milk, which seems very good. We don't get that to drink. The eggs are cold-storage and not too wonderful.
