May 10, 1944 Dear Mother, I seem to have just two letters on hand to answer, seventy and an unmarked one I'd judge was seventy one. I haven't had one for several days so am looking forward. Also, none of the 5 lb packages has come as yet, so ditto. We're making inroads into the hot chocolate, so I'd love to have you send me some more. We've just had a mug of it apiece and are about to play casino and go to bed. We have a mug into which we must put a penny if we talk shop or if any of our cohorts come in to talk shop. We mustn't warn them, but have to pay up after they leave. J.'s a [dietician?], so that is her shop talk. We are going to raise it to a threepence tomorrow. We want to buy a water heater for tea, etc. Yesterday I took a day off and washed clothes, then we rode to town and bought our mugs, went to dinner and to a show. Saw Mme. Curie. To answer your questions. Yes, I am definitely working. We are now located. The holly is lovely. I think it is green all winter. No sheets, unless you've already sent them. Yes, there are men--lots of them. However, in a medical unit the officers are married--
