to send some books home to his children, and we also talked about chinaware. He was interested in the Wedgewood pin. Jay is sitting on her bed opposite me singing a long song, of which the refrain is: "Beer, beer, beer," said the private. She is going to write to her husband now and then we are going to eat peanut butter on C-ration biscuits, a Mars bar that was her last weeks candy ration and some hot chocolate with powdered milk in it. I eat like a horse and still have room to spare in my fourteen uniform. By the way, I wore my summer Palm Beach suit last night and had many compliments. It is bluer and prettier than the other and was freshly pressed by the tailor on the post. Today Lin & I got tired of promises on the painting we wanted done, so we got 5-gal of linoleum paint from Lt. Patterson, four brushes, our detail man and another victim and this afternoon painted the floor of the library, which is about as big as our livingroom, library, dining room & my room together. We also did half the lounge, which is much larger. I have blisters, but we are going to continue tomorrow. I think it will look lots better and not have that horrid concrete
