May 28, 1944 Dear Mother, Here's the continuation I promised. It is now about six thirty, and the other letter was written this noon. I'm delighted to hear such good things about Rickey's progress. They were wise to keep his talents bottled up till he was ready, weren't they? Be sure to take it easy around the yard, especially on the lawn-mowing. It is hard work, and I do hope you can get someone to do it. We can afford to pay whatever is necessary. I hope good neighbors will buy the Dewey house. Are they going out on the farm for good? I have some lovely post cards I want to send you, but think I'd better save them to bring, as there seems to be confusion as to whether they go through. The lilies of the valley came beautifully pressed. They must be lovely and big this year. Our tomatos are staked out in front of the Red Cross house and one has a tomato on it. Where it got it in the kitchen I don't know. Sort of an Immaculate Conception, no doubt. How nice that Betty could come. I bet it was an eye-opener for
