Saving...
I guess you must have missed the letter in which I told of accumulating pocket money till I needed to send it home. Hence the check you got. I sent another the same size a few days ago. It hasn't anything to do with the Red Cross, ut is a government Army convenience for sending money home without charge. In both cases it was because I didn't have enough chance to spend the part I'm keeping. Just think of it! Five hundred sent home in three months isn't bad, is it? Do listen to the Army Hour, as they are hooking up to broadcast from our lounge regularly. It's on Sunday and will be after closing hours for us. We won't have anything to do with it except furnish the place. They are putting wires out the window by the little storeroom. Also, read the article on Chaplains in the July American, as it describes our crossing. Chaplain Bryant is ours & the report was along. The only bomb shelters are slit trenches, but we'd be much too busy to use them and they are for patients. We had a short alert last night but nothing happened.
