Saving...
go if he can arrange it. He's to call in a few days and if he does perhaps we can get something done. His friends were fun too - reminded me of the Lynch - Scally gang. I danced with some nice British officers and several Canadians who were very congenial. One Blue Danube waltz was a riot. We'd get in about two proper swirls and then stagger dizzily around the floor for the rest of the round. Mrs. Allen, the hostess at these dances, has interesting and jolly ways of keeping things moving. We all had a good time and chattered like magpies as we jounced back in our ambulance. When we got back we were hungry so Jay got fried steaks and hot biscuits & butter from the mess hall and I made coffee and Polly, Jay and I ate a midnight snack. Today was our day off and we slept till noon. It was rainy so we've been reading, writing and having tea. Before supper we had a drink at the club, which pepped up the table conversation. Tomorrow I take the patients on the weekly steamer ride & tea. Love Helen
