Saving...
July 1, 1944 Dear Mother, I have two V-mails and an air-mail to answer, ninety-three to ninety-five inclusive. I wish I had a bit of strawberry shortcake. I haven't fared too badly on berries, considering that they are unobtainable on the market. It is well to stand high with the cooks. The berries are large and very good. For goodness sake, don't worry about me! I'm having a swell time with not a shadow of uneasiness. Be thankful I'm where I am and not where I'd like to be! Tell Eric I'll accompany him to Cedar Rapids by bicycle as an after-supper ride when I get back. Did you tell them about my forty-two mile one? It's been raining on my free time lately so I haven't gotten in any more good ones. I enjoy Helen's letters. There's really so little that hasn't been said about the war that the little things are about all one can write about, of course if you have a large, soul-stirring thought at any time I'd love to have it forwarded, so don't hesitate. There are so many lovely cats around
