July 21, 1944 Dear Mother, Your first numbered package got here today and was duly unpacked, appreciated, and shared. We have a pretty fair stock of hot chocolate so believe I can do what I wanted and give one of my nice volunteers a half pound package. They are so good to me. This morning Mrs. Goddard was helping me and I mentioned that if I weren't so busy I'd take a trip this afternoon in the Cotswold region where transportation was taking a nurse for transfer. She urged me to go and insisted on coming back this afternoon and tending to things along with Mrs. D[???], the regular. Mrs. Goddard is the one who brought me the two eggs too. I was glad this morning to take her some very good fudge Jay, Polly and I made last night in the craft shop. Polly's sugar and chocolate, Jay's milk and my nuts. Mrs. Goddard was going to take it home to her little girl Jeannie. We are giving a party for all our volunteers Tuesday night and are going
