to have a grab-bag of really nice things. I found some nail polish, a jar of cream, a lipstick, some PX hankies, a couple of bottles of perfume and some soap. Some of the other girls are putting in Kleenex, bath towels, etc. The volunteers are to bring a husband or friend and I think it will be fun. Today's trip was lovely--all high ridges and blue valleys, with grey stone fences and villages. The other hospital can't begin to compare with ours, though, and I guess we're lucky. Wednesday Polly, Jay and I took blankets, pillows, games, writing stuff and books and a big picnic ration box for lunch and dinner up to the top of a lovely and famous hill near here. (Shotover Hill) Fortunately an officer in a jeep took us up and an Englishman helped us down. We wore a seersucker dress or bathing suit under our uniforms and really had a swell day eating, sleeping and watching the sky and planes. The place we had intended to park ourselves had a sign saying
