Saving...
Can you have the auditor send me a ballot? I want to vote in the presidential election. July 30, 1944 Dear Mother, I got your letter one hundred six and three little packages a couple of days ago. The packages were the chocolate wrapped differently, three gum drop pachages and one J[??]. They all came beautifully. I'm waiting for Johnnie and Polly to get paid and then we're going for a ride. It is after supper. Very stirring drum and bugle music is coming from men marching to or from a British encampment near here. It has quite a swing to it. We envy you your sweet corn. Last night it was raining slightly and I had on my quilted robe when all of a sudden I decided some fresh lettuce would be good so I pranced out to my garden and harvested some. Jay and I sat on our beds and munched it like rabbits. It was so good with the raindrops still on it. Jay, Helen and I are going Tuesday evening on our little journey to where I go the toasting fork. We're staying over night and taking our bicycles so we can roam around Wednesday and come back late that night. The last fig Newton was especially good. Could you send more of them? I think they were "zion" brand.
