Saving...
We have a new addition to our staff, Edna Busse from South Dakota, who is a staff aide like Helen C. I think she will be lots of help when she gets worked in. Did I tell you about writing letters for a Free French patient we have who can speak no English. To complicate matters, he had a broken [paw?]. I was quite proud of myself when I got his two letters written and had visited with him. I'm embarrassed about Betty Schram & her package. When you told me she was fussing about a package for me, I thought you meant that she didn't have a request, so when I wrote her a card I mentioned it. I'll try to see what I can do about gifts for those you've mentioned, but I honestly can't say that I can take Christmas seriously under the circumstances. It is so very likely that we will be in so many places before that time that I just can't imagine making any kind of plans. That's the frame of mind one comes to be in. It's nice, but rather disconcerting, I suppose, to those at home. No, I don't think you'd better send the cooky "makings," but use them yourself. No, I don't need V-mail. You might see that I get a ballot. I applied for one by card, but they may think it queer that I said I had been in Wisconsin. You could explain. Love, Helen
