Sept 14, 1944 Dear Mother, No. 9 An unnumbered package with the blue sweater, bars, chocolate and peanuts came today. I love the sweater, and it is just in time, as my old blue one is getting quite fuzzy on the elbows. I save the red one for dark days. Jay is mailing another package to you tomorrow. It has four tea tiles, the spring & fall for Gretchen & the summer & winter for June. I intended the silver salad things for Aunt Min, but am not sure that someone else wouldn't use them more. They came from Plymouth, the tiles from A------, where we went on the boat. The Wedgwood piece for a ring is for Mary and came from London. I think she'll like it better than the jade ring which, after all isn't particularly characteristic of England. It is dated 1780 & 1800, like your pin. The etchings still haven't gone off, and I think I'll have to send them some other way. There is no sense of there being export or import charges on the. My difficulty is that there is a place name on them (Oxford) and I haven't gotten
